G2 RSS Reader
Your RSS feeds on the G2: headlines, a short summary, or the whole article a page at a time.

What it does
G2 RSS Reader puts RSS and Atom feeds on Even Realities G2 glasses. A server fetches the feeds, pulls out the article text and writes a two or three sentence summary, and the glasses show the headline list, the summary or the full article. Feeds are added from the phone.
- Lists your feeds with unread counts. Open one for its headlines, with a filled dot for unread and a hollow one for read, unread first.
- Opens an article as a short AI summary or as the full text, paginated to fit the display. Tap switches between the two. Scrolling past the end opens the next unread article, and scrolling back past the start returns to the previous one.
- Refreshes every feed when the app opens or comes back to the foreground, at most once every five minutes. Holding on a headline list refreshes that feed now. The server also polls every feed every 15 minutes.
- After 30 seconds idle on the feed list, drops to a standby screen with the date, time, current weather and one rotating headline. Tap opens the headline on screen. Double tap exits.
- Offers a menu with up to seven of your feeds, then Refresh, Mark all read and Exit.
- Keeps feeds and settings on the phone: default reading mode, clock, standby layout, Celsius or Fahrenheit, purging old articles, and whether summaries come from the free built-in model or your own Anthropic or OpenAI key. A new install starts with two San Francisco feeds, The San Francisco Standard and Mission Local.
Requirements
Even Realities G2 glasses and the Even Realities app 2.2.9 or newer on your phone, with a network connection. Feeds must be RSS or Atom. Location access is optional and used only for the standby weather.
Changelog
- 0.5.0
A menu with up to seven feeds, then Refresh, Mark all read and Exit. Seven, not eight, because the firmware caps a menu at ten items. Opening and closing the menu no longer pauses the clock and ticker or sets off a refresh. Headers, hints and the clock are drawn a step dimmer than the text being read. Requires Even app 2.2.9.
- 0.4.0
Hold on a headline list to refresh that feed. The header reads Refreshing while it runs, and a second hold during a refresh is ignored. The empty list's "Swipe or hold to refresh" is finally true. Requires Even app 2.2.9 and SDK 0.0.14.
- 0.3.3
Long summaries page instead of cutting off their last line. Standby shows the weather as words, since the emoji icons had never rendered, and marks a reading older than 90 minutes. Both lists now use all six rows. The feed list is cached, so launch and offline no longer look like having no feeds. The ticker slows to 30 seconds and stops when the glasses are off.
- 0.3.2
Standby weather survives a locked phone by keeping the last location and reading on the phone. A tap on standby opens the headline it is showing instead of the feed list.
